This article reviews the state of program evaluation in the Manitoba civil service over a 10-year period up to the present time and into the future. The study methodology consists of a literature review and survey of senior Manitoba government officials to assess their beliefs about the role of program evaluation in decisions made by their departments in recent years. Also assessed were program evaluation’s present role and the expected utility that program evaluation will have for managers over the next five years.
